An online data reporting system that streamlines the DWI report writing for Law Enforcement Officers based in the USA. This advanced reporting system walks an officer step by step through the DWI report writing process utilizing a series of free text boxes, drop menus, and check boxes. The questions in the system prompt the officer to include more detailed information than what they would traditionally include on their own. Once this information is completed, the reporting system will auto populate and generate every form associated with a DWI arrest based on the information the officer has already entered into the system.
Challenges
The reporting system was created in order to streamline the DUI/DWI reporting process for Law Enforcement Officers in a certain state of the USA. Prior to its implementation, there was no system in place to automatically deliver reports to District and County Attorneys, which resulted in significant time and human effort being invested in order to make the necessary DWI reports.
Solution
Utilizing current advanced reporting technology with assistance from the state’s District and County Attorney’s Association, the program implemented its electronic signature blood search warrant feature in 2017. In response to the challenges this process allows officers and judges to securely sign the necessary documents remotely which has been dramatically reduced the time needed to obtain blood search warrant, ensuring all legal documents are carried out in privacy and security. On average, the entire process now takes just 20 minutes. This efficiency not only saves valuable time, but it also allows law enforcement to quickly obtain the evidence they need to solve crimes and bring criminals to justice.
The system delivers a well detailed report to district and county attorneys. The reporting system is intended to streamline the DWI arrest process by automatically generating every form associated with a DWI arrest based on information already entered into the system by the arresting officer. These forms include Blood Search Warrant, DIC Forms, Complaint/Affidavit & many more. Furthermore, this whole process eliminates the need for paper documents, which can be lost or damaged.
Impact
As a result of this automation, the advanced reporting system has greatly reduced reporting time by up to 60%. This also reduces the amount of redundant data, allowing officers to focus on more important issues. In addition, the reporting system has also resulted in more accurate and complete reports, as well as increased compliance with state reporting requirements. As a result, the advanced reporting system has improved the efficiency and effectiveness of DUI/DWI enforcement cases. In fact, in order to successfully prosecute the case, the system provides district and county attorneys with a detailed report associated with a DUI / DWI arrest.
