'Webinar 2021- Cloud Architecture: Deploying Applications on AWS Serverless Infrastructure'
Brain Station 23 have successfully organized ‘Webinar 2021- Cloud Architecture: Deploying Applications on AWS Serverless Infrastructure’; supported by AWS on 14th October,2021. The event emphasized on how serverless cloud architecture can be utilized for applications. Serverless architecture from AWS has great advantages for business in regards of optimizing cost and developing visionary concepts into reality.
AWS provides technologies that allow to run code, manage data, and integrate apps without having to manage servers. To boost agility and save costs, serverless solutions provide automatic scaling, built-in high availability, and a pay-per-use subscription structure. AWS recorded 13.5 billion dollars in sales in Q4 of 2021, accounting for 12% of Amazon’s total revenue, and 4 billion dollars in operating income, accounting for 47% of Amazon’s total operating income.
The webinar offered the chance to the cloud enthusiasts to join the discussion which was honored by the respected speakers and they got to know about their queries and got insights about serverless infrastructures.
‘Webinar 2021- Cloud Architecture: Deploying Applications on AWS Serverless Infrastructure’ was hosted by and inaugurated by Shamiul Haque Protik (Senior Business Development Executive). The speakers of the occasion were Raisul Islam (Lead Engineer and Solution Architect), Heena Khan (Partner Solution Architect, AWS, India), Rusha Saha (Partner Development Manager, AWS, India). Also, Mizanur Rahman (CTO & Cloud Technology Team Lead, Brain Station 23 Ltd) shared his knowledge regarding this area.
Having a long experience in development, solution architecture and AWS serverless architecture, Raisul Islam (Lead Engineer and Solution Architect) shared the concept and use cases of serverless architecture. AWS is managing the infrastructures with maintaining and managing which reduces operational overhead. Based on the consumption and capacity it can be scalable. Because of this serverless architecture facility, business can focus on innovation and agility which is the most beneficial part, he shared. If business wants consistent performance of applications, high availability serverless ensures the stability of system. If the architecture of the system is based on service oriented or event driven then choosing serverless is the convenient option, he added. He presented for a web version how is the architecture working (ex- Lambda working in backend for business logic), how and why use the technologies like Amazon Cognito, Dynamo DB. For mobile version how the architecture works been showed too so that audience can get a clear idea. Which things to be considered while using this serverless tech (security, authentication) were discussed.
A video has been shared to demonstrate a case of serverless architecture, project (WiNiT) done by Brain Station demonstrated how AWS serverless architecture been used to develop and deploy the backend application. The app is now the fastest growing trivia app in the country. In average daily, 30 thousand people are using this game with 1.1 million downloads. While developing AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon Cognito and more tech (serverless) services been used. Some statistics about this case shared in order to show some insights to the audiences (ex- 298 M API Gateway requests). According to him, serverless is the future and hope to continue to work with this service more.
After this first presentation there was a question-and-answer session where some queries were risen from the participants. Queries like how to debug a serverless app during the development or What is the better structure of serverless app. Beginners and student developers in this regard also shared their views and got suggestions form the honorable speaker. An important thing that was been said that AWS has educate program, where educational institutions can apply in this program which enables the advantage for students to use it without credit card information. Participants also shared their experience with serverless architecture. A form was shared for attendees so that organizers can receive feedbacks.
The next session was taken by Heena Khan (Partner Solution Architect, AWS, India). She spoke about why serverless-first strategy is being adapted by customers and how this adoption journey look like (building new applications, re-platforming, re-factoring), including what and how customers’ demands are meeting been expressed. She presented sample case of deployment which used AWS Lambda and serverless portfolio and how users were benefited by this service specially in the pandemic situation. By following strategies like reduction, migration and modernization customers can adapt a serverless system with other strategy like Leap Frog adoption. She added that how the architecture gives flexibility to the developers. Message queuing service like Amazon SQS or functional database like Amazon DynamoDB and more about other services within serverless structures were discussed so that the idea of serverless service is understandable. Also, why API is needed for micro services with event driven architecture’s facility (case study) been shown. A brief discussion on AWS Lambda and how legacy system bridging with new innovations and adaption pattern in organizations displayed.
The last session was covered by Rusha Saha (Partner Development Manager, AWS, India). She spoke about Brain Station 23 being a partner, proved their strength and have access to exclusive AWS programs and funding benefits. She articulated to reach to them for any queries or consultation and Brain Station 23 covered this journey alongside AWS smoothly. Partners specializing in delivering security focus solutions for specific use cases, can make solutions which enables automation and helps scaling workloads so it is easy to manage cloud ready software solutions. Additionally, she mentioned partners provide industry leading consulting technology services like storage consulting business continuity or disaster recovery and others which are strong points of Brain Station 23. About migration journey for customer providing professional services by Brain Station discussed as well. She spoke about educating learners about services and technologies through webinars which are free of cost. She raised that they talk about trust and transparency in partners. Moreover, partners added a range of solutions to simplify managing infrastructures and they want to ensure optimize each stage of software development life cycle; this are perfected by a partner like Brain Station-23, she added.
The webinar ends with Mizanur Rahman (CTO & Cloud Technology Team Lead, Brain Station 23 Ltd) put in that it is important to continuously learn and adapt new technologies to walk in the right direction. Furthermore, this type of sessions is useful for supervision and helps eventually work together to embrace new trends in technology. He also told to look for this type of sessions will happen in future more frequently.
